Pull the invisible jet back into the hangar, it looks like Joss Whedeon's plans for making the big screen adaptation of "Wonder Woman" won't get off the ground. Best known for his long running TV shows Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, Whedon has been associated with the "Wonder Woman" project as writer and director since late 2005. While a Whedon script has been slow to materialize, The Hollywood Reporter mentioned this week that Warner Bros. and Silver Pictures bought a treatment from a set of new writers as a pre-emptive measure to avoid potential legal action if the scripts have any similarities. Afterward, Whedon posted a blog on his website to confirm his involvement with the project had indeed ended due to a difference in vision with the studios. Fans know that nobody can write a complex female heroine like Joss Whedon, so it's disappointing that this project wasn't the right fit. Speculation as to who would play Wonder Woman has been a popular topic among bloggers and entertainment magazines. Although Whedon claims to have never selected an actress to wear the golden bracelets, everyone from Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron, Evangeline Lilly and Charisma Carpenter have been rumored to be in the running for the role. Carpenter (pictured above), known for her role on both Buffy and Angel as the bitchy yet heroic Cordelia Chase was always my first choice. As for the future of the project, the studios will likely use the script snatched up from newcomers Matthew Jennison and Brent Strickland for Wonder Woman's change in course.
